Hi! My name is Melissa Dinkelman, and I teach Kindergarten at Graham A. Barden. I have been teaching now for seven years and thoroughly enjoy every minute of it! I am from Longview, Texas where I have lived most of my life. The USMC brought my family and myself to North Carolina. I have three children, Alyssa, Ashlyn, and Colten. Alyssa is in her first year of college, Ashlyn is in the sixth grade, and Colten is in the Fourth grade. I attended the University of Texas and graduated with certificates of specialty in ESL, Reading, and Early Childhood. Each year I look forward to meeting my new students and their wonderful families. By the end of each year, I hate to see my students leave, but know I helped to make them a successful life long learner of knowledge.
My Assistant: Mary Pat Detwiller
Mrs. Detwiller is a New Jersey native and has been an Eastern Carolina resident since 1994. She graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth in 1991 with a BA in English Literature and a Minor in Communication. Mrs. Detwiller has been a teacher assistant at GAB since 2008 and is Editor In Chief of our school yearbook! A "soccer mom" since 1995, Mrs. Detwiller keeps the roads hot with her own three children, Kate, Casey & Conor, supporting the WCHS colorguard, Babe Ruth Baseball and of course.....soccer!
